Oakhaven Family Fun Day

Everyone is welcome, for an afternoon of fun and entertainment for all ages!

There will be something for everyone to enjoy at Oakhaven’s traditional summer fayre.

Stalls will include delicious homemade cakes, the ever-popular bottle tombola and ‘barrow of booze’, toys, bric-a-brac, crafts, plants and a pop-up Oakhaven Shop selling great quality preloved clothing, hats, accessories and jewellery. 

Children will be delighted with the Miller’s Ark Animal Farm and The Lovely Bubby Show. At the ‘Kidzone’ they will find ‘footpool’, basketball and fantastic inflatables. Meanwhile, the human fruit machine, doughnut wall and splat the rat stalls will delight kids of all ages!

Refreshments will include a BBQ by BLK 8TR, fresh strawberries, a Fizz and Pimms tent, a traditional tea room, ice creams and plenty of other delicious treats!

All in all the Family Fun Day will be a great way to support your local hospice!

All funds raised at the Family Fun Day will directly support Oakhaven Hospice. Every day it costs over £21,500 to fund Oakhaven’s services in the hospice and throughout the New Forest, Totton and Waterside communities. And demand for Oakhaven’s specialist services is growing every year. Last year Oakhaven cared for 1,400 patients and supported over 3,200 people who visited the Coates Centre to benefit from wellbeing and bereavement support.

Just 11% of Oakhaven’s funding is covered by the NHS, for the remaining 89% the charity relies on your kind donations, fundraising, gifts in wills and income from the Oakhaven charity shops and social enterprise Oakhaven Care Ltd.

However, like many other hospices in the UK, the current cost-of-living crisis is having a highly detrimental effect on Oakhaven’s ability to generate sufficient income to cover day-to-day running costs. According to Hospice UK's quarterly financial benchmarking survey, the UK hospice sector, which supports 300,000 people annually, is facing a collective estimated deficit of £77 million in the financial year 2023-24.
