The Lymington Yacht Haven based yacht, Kari of Lymington, has just completed the 2024 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) to St Lucia. The crew not only navigated challenging seas but also raised awareness and funds for Huntington's Disease.
Onboard was Sarah Hood, a dedicated beauty therapist from Lymington, who bravely battles Huntington's Disease. Despite facing 5m seas and 40kt winds, the crew adapted their onboard life to accommodate Sarah's needs, ensuring she remained an active and integral part of the yacht's operations.
Kari of Lymington is an Oyster 46 and usually based out of Lymington Yacht Haven. The ARC attracts over 200 boats per year who sail 2700nm from Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia. With an element of fun competition, the rally provides a cruisers with the change to create bonds with other boats as they sail together across the Atlantic, thus making the long voyage a less daunting prospect.
Raising money for the Huntington's Disease charity
The crew of "Kari of Lymington" is committed to raising money for the Huntington's Disease charity, highlighting the importance of support and research for those affected by this condition. Their journey is a testament to resilience, teamwork, and the spirit of adventure.
Excitingly, "Kari of Lymington" currently leads its Division D for cruising yachts. Supporters can follow their progress on the YB Races App and contribute to their cause through their 'Just Giving' donations page.
We look forward to welcoming Kari of Lymington back to Lymington Yacht Haven in 2026!
