If you haven't used our boatyard before, or for a quick reminder of what’s here, it may be useful to scan through our boatyard A-Z.
Availability - The hoist operates Monday to Friday with lifts from 8.30am - 4.30pm. Prior booking is essential. To through our online system.
Confirmation - Once you have submitted your Winter Lay Up request, our team will check everything in your application to match your preferred dates as closely as possible. You will subsequently be sent a confirmation of your dates and you will be advised of your specific lift time the day before your scheduled booking.
Electricity - All boats plugged into an electricity supply afloat or ashore must have a metered cable that has been registered at the Marina Office.
Fuel - Along with roadside filling stations, last year we switched from E5 petrol to E10. If you have a petrol engine, it might be worth reading our short FAQ to help you understand what this E10 change means for your vessel. Find out more
Insurance - Being a Yacht Havens berth holder means that you have access to a range of enhanced benefits and cover with Towergate, including a 20% discount on marine insurance, when you buy or renew your policy with them. If you’d like to find out more call one of their specialists or get an instant online quote. Find out more
Keys - We're happy to hold boat keys on your behalf. If your chosen contractor wishes to sign out your keys, please ensure you have given us permission in advance and that the contractor has provided us with a copy of their insurance details.
Lifting points - Boats should be marked to show the location for the lifting strops, or owners must be on hand to advise of the correct strop positions. We have small stickers available to mark the position if you don’t already have them. It is also advisable always to replace any logs with blanks so that they are not inadvertently damaged during the lifting process.
On-site services - You'll find a range of skilled and trusted marine businesses ready to help with any work you may require. We have a handy directory of on-site services, or you can find a list on the Marina Map in our Printed Tide Tables (free from the Marina Office).
Outboard engine flushing - Next to our workshop in the lower Berth Holders Car Park is a fresh-water outboard engine flushing tank for berth holders to use.
Sails - Headsails must be removed prior to lifting. If you have an in-mast furling mainsail, please ensure it is completely furled inside the mast, leaving only the minimum amount of sail exposed. Make sure all locking devices are engaged and regularly checked to prevent accidental unfurling. In addition, we recommend securing a strap around the mast above the exposed mainsail as an extra precaution against extreme weather conditions. We will provide this strap and are happy to assist with the installation to ensure everything is secure.
Sprayhoods and deck cushions - We recommend removing sprayhoods before coming ashore to reduce windage, as well as taking your deck cushions and interior linens home to avoid damp and mould.
