Largs RNLI volunteer crew, fundraisers and supporters danced the night away at a fantastic ceilidh night at the Largs Regatta Festival.
On Friday 23 August 2024 the volunteers from Largs RNLI took over the Largs Regatta Festival Marquee at Largs Yacht Haven for a night of dancing and celebrating 60 years of RNLI lifesaving within the town.

The night began with the drawing of the highly anticipated ‘Grand Raffle’, with tickets having been on sale for several months. The top prize being £200; to represent the 200 year anniversary of the RNLI in 2024, and many other great prizes donated by local companies and individuals.
It was then time for the party to start with music being provided by the fantastic MacFadyen Sisters who had the whole marquee up and dancing along to the traditional ceilidh music throughout the night.
During the interval there was another smaller raffle with more fantastic prizes up for grabs along with a coin slide game where the aim is to slide a £1 coin as close as possible to the bottle, with the winner getting to take the bottle home.
Great food & drink
The happy ceilidh dancers were also treated to delicious food from the Scottish Pizza Co. and The Bay Fish and Chips from the food trucks located just outside of the marquee.
At 11pm The MacFadyen Sisters brought the night to a close, finishing with a brilliant rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’.
A special thanks goes to Largs Yacht Haven and Saturn Sails for the support they have given us at this event and at other events taking place during the Largs RNLI 60th anniversary year.
Largs RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager John Griffiths said: ‘A fantastic night was had by everyone involved. It was lovely to have so many of our One Crew at the event and to be joined by friends, family and supporters.
‘Our thanks go to everyone involved in the organisation of this event, and to all who attended and supported us. As a charity we rely on donations to allow us to continue to save lives at sea.’
