Blue Flag with Green Pennant recognition for Jachthaven Biesbosch
We are very proud that Jachthaven Biesbosch is allowed to raise the Blue Flag for the 18th time.
Also, the trend to deal with tourism and recreation in a sustainable way is still increasing. A number of marinas in the Netherlands decided to do more than the international Blue Flag demands. They focus even more on corporate social responsibility within their business operations. This group of frontrunners has now grown to 26 marinas with a Green ribbon. Jachthaven Biesbosch belongs to this leading group and we are delighted to announce that we received the Green Pennant award again this year.
Blue Flag
The Blue Flag is awarded each year by the Stichting Keurmerk Milieu, Veiligheid en Kwaliteit (KMVK) - the Foundation for Environment, Safety and Quality. With the Blue Flag campaign in the Netherlands, the foundation involves governments, entrepreneurs and recreationists in the care for clean and safe water, beautiful nature and a healthy environment and sustainable marinas. For tourists and holidaymakers, the Blue Flag is the international recognition and quality symbol for clean beaches with good water quality and safe and clean marinas.
Helga van Leur presented the awards on 11 May 2023, on the beach of Wassenaarse Slag, including a presentation of Blue Flag recognition for Jachthaven Biesbosch in Drimmelen.
The International Jury for the Blue Flag of FEE International in Denmark awarded 195 Blue Flags in the Netherlands, of which 134 went to marinas and 61 to beaches. This is an increase of 6 new locations.
Long relationship with Blue Flag
The locations voluntarily apply for the Blue Flag award. In practice, this means that marinas and beaches must meet a number of important criteria, such as clean (swimming) water, good sanitary facilities and a high degree of safety. Being allowed to use a Blue Flag is a recognition of the efforts made by the beach municipality or marina manager in this area. The Blue Flag is valid for one year: an annual check is carried out to see whether the beaches and marinas still meet the requirements.
We are very proud that Jachthaven Biesbosch is allowed to raise the Blue Flag for the 18th time.
