The team at Plymouth Yacht Haven has been hard at work completing a series of projects aimed at maintaining and improving facilities around the marina.
Guided by the helpful feedback from our berth holder questionnaire earlier this year, we’ve focused on improvements that matter most to you, including the replacement of key walkways and the landing pontoon at the bottom of A/B Bridgehead. Here’s a quick summary of what we’ve achieved...

New C/D Pontoon walkway
We started the off-season by replacing C/D walkway with a brand new main pontoon.
This involved finding temporary berths for 50 berth holders, disconnecting the electricity and water supplies, removing 22 finger pontoons and securely lashing them together, before removing the old walkway.
The new pontoon (measuring a total of 112.8m) arrived by road so needed launching off before being towed into position, followed by the simple job of reconnecting supplies, reconnecting finger pontoons and returning boats to their home berths!
A logistical headache for our team of Haven Masters, but completed in plenty of time for Christmas!

New E/F Pontoon walkway
The New Year kicked off with the replacement of E/F walkway.
The process followed similar steps to the C/D walkway replacement, but with a larger number of boats to temporarily relocate, as well as more fingers to remove and disconnect. The E/F walkway is also slightly longer, with 121.5m of new pontoons installed bringing the winter total to 234.3m of new pontoons!
These works were completed at the end of February with boats returned to their home berths.

Landing Pontoon Replacement
The final major project of the 2024/25 Winter Season was to install a replacement landing pontoon at the bottom of A/B Bridgehead. The new landing pontoon is significantly larger than the previous iteration, providing increased stability and more space for customers (dis)embarking the pontoons.
You may recall we attempted to install this replacement pontoon in late-2024 but works were delayed due to poor weather and adjustments needed in the new pontoon's weight balance.
Fortunately, this time around the replacement went smoothly with a floating crane taking the weight of the bridgehead, allowing us to slide the old pontoon out and put the new pontoon in position.
Wishing all our berth holders and enjoyable 2025 season on the water!
