On Saturday 29th June 2024, Troon Coastal Rowing Club launched the fourth craft in its magnificent fleet. Marjorie Jeffrey is the third St. Ayles skiff in their fleet joining her sisters, Marr Voyager and Ailsa Lass and her little cousin Lady Isle.
The very beginning of Troon Coastal Rowing Club
The club began in the winter of 2010 when a St Ayles Rowing Skiff construction kit was donated to local Troon secondary school – Marr College by Sir Boyd Tunnock CBE. This was in the wake of a remarkable resurgence of coastal rowing in 2008 after the Scottish Fisheries Museum built a replica of a historic rowing skiff.
Rapid Growth
The Launch of Marjorie Jeffrey
Over a decade later and the launch of their fourth boat, marks a significant milestone in the club's ongoing growth. The new addition, crafted with meticulous care, reflects the dedication and passion of the club's members and supporters. This fourth boat not only expands the club's capacity to accommodate more rowers but also enhances their ability to participate in regional and national competitions.
