A week after the spectacular America's Cup World Series (ACWS) racing in Portsmouth, the Land Rover Team BAR Safety Boat returned to Haven Quay in Lymington.
The Scorpion RIB is one of three "Chase Boats" for Ben Ainslie's Land Rover Team BAR. This involves the RIB providing crew support before, during and after the race, as well as tracking the team during races and training. The RIB is also heavily involved in the tricky operation of towing the AC45 in and out of the harbour. The three boats were all originally launched by Haven Quay last year but now returns for a week before heading to Gothenburg with the team for the next stage of the ACWS. This RIB is the largest of the three Chase Boats at 10.8m.
The America's Cup World Series in Portsmouth marked the start of Ben Ainslie's campaign to win to America's Cup for the UK for the first time in the event's 164 year. Over 2,000 boats took to the Solent to watch the incredible AC45 catamaran racing where Land Rover BAR Team took the victory. This included over 25 Haven Quay berth holders taking to the water to witness the historic day.
